Privacy policy
Last updated: 4 July 2026 ยท Draft for early access
This policy explains how (who's) Got the kids ("we", "us") handles personal data when you use our website and app at gotthekids.com.
Who we are
Got the kids is a family handoff scheduling service for UK households. For privacy enquiries during early access, email hello@gotthekids.com. Full data controller details will be published before general availability.
What we collect
- Account data: email address and authentication identifiers when you sign up.
- Household data: children's first names, schedule blocks (dates, times, locations, notes), and caregiver names you add.
- Share links: scoped tokens that let carers view their slice without an account. Links are unguessable; carers do not need to register.
- Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type) for security and reliability.
Why we use it (lawful basis)
We process data to provide the service you request (contract) and to keep the platform secure (legitimate interests). We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.
Children's data
Parents enter children's first names and schedule details. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children. Parents are responsible for what they share with carers via scoped links.
Carers without accounts
When a carer opens a share link, they see only the schedule slice you assigned to them. We do not require carers to create accounts or provide personal data to view their link.
Storage and security
Data is stored in encrypted form on infrastructure hosted in the UK/EU. Access is restricted to authenticated household members and scoped share tokens. We apply industry-standard security measures; no system is 100% secure.
Retention
We retain household data while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data. Share tokens expire according to settings you control.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your data, and to object to processing. You may lodge a complaint with the ICO (ico.org.uk). Contact us to exercise your rights.
Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies. A full cookie notice will be published before paid launch.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified via the app or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
